I was asked by a professional friend to create (quickly) a solid website that worked as a companion piece to existing collateral. It was for a release at a convention (if I remember correctly). Little Flash in the beginning, but it’s not a SPLASH PAGE!

This application rested as a desktop background. It was designed to live at an internet cafe for a convention HRB was sponsoring. Office specific individuals would interact with it to learn how Online could help them.

I’m sure if you are over the age of 20 you remember these ads for HRB. The first (which this ones ties to) is the best, in my opinion. We were allowed to use the imagery on the HRB site, but not the actual commercial or the words “Super Bowl.” I came up with the idea of creating an interactive television that the user could turn on and off, change the channel, etc. Was cool. Flash.

We created inkscan while working at Block (Bill, Greg & myself). In meetings during tax season we started to druft off due to the 24+ hour straight days we were working (my record was in the ballpark of 35 hours straight, Bill has me beat by some insaine number). We started to doodle. I took them and created a Flash site around each series.
Stupid, fun, silly, whatever you want to call it we had fun for a bit.

My boss at the time was/is a big motocross fan. He had/has a couple Honda dirt-bikes. Digex was pitching or had Honda as a client… he got the great idea of doing a video presentation / Flash application to show them what we could do. We spent an afternoon on his bike shooting video, and then we took a Digex flag… it was fun. Honda never saw it.

This one’s a unique one. While I was working in Baltimore XMAS was getting close. I had just created a Thanksgiving Digital card, so I was tasked with doing one for XMAS, but we couldn’t offend anyone, so it had to be general. We worked in Baltimore, for christ’s sake, so I had a lot to work from. There was the white-trash street that decorates every year with hubcap trees, massive amounts of plastics statues, and oldbay (of yes, oldbay as holiday decoration).
NattyBo is our beer. The icon is the winking guy you are looking at with the reindeer. Talk about a crazy Flash piece. Funny, wacky, inside-joke… I was told it’s “too regional…” Even though the majority of our clients WERE in Baltimore. Never saw the light of day.

This was a Flash Holiday card delivered via rich-text email. Recipients got a slick little email, click a link and was taken to this flash card. Clients liked it. Went over well.
